Paper Wasp
The Paper Wasp is a social insect known for its distinctive nests made from chewed wood fibers mixed with saliva, creating a papery texture. These wasps are commonly found in temperate regions and are easily recognisable by their slender bodies, narrow waists, and long legs that dangle during flight. Paper Wasps play a beneficial role in ecosystems as they help control pest populations by feeding on caterpillars and other insects. However, they can become aggressive if their nests are disturbed, posing a risk of painful stings. Despite this, they are generally non-aggressive and contribute positively to garden health by pollinating flowers and preying on harmful insects.
