Akeake
Akeake (Dodonaea viscosa) is a hardy and adaptable native shrub that is well suited to exposed sites and challenging growing conditions.
Its dense foliage provides shelter for birds and insects, while its resilience makes it an excellent species for helping establish vegetation in restoration areas.
Akeake is particularly valued for its ability to thrive where other species may struggle, helping create a stronger and more resilient ecosystem within riparian corridors and restoration projects.
Its toughness and tolerance of wind and dry conditions also make Akeake a great option for exposed Waikawa Beach gardens and lifestyle properties.
